One of the Loop’s editors spotted a distinctive car this afternoon:
We assumed it was to “show the flag” for VHCD’s upcoming urgent care solution. But when we ran into DispatchHealth’s people, we confirmed that they are on-island and ready to provide care.
What can they do? Stitches. Assessments. Limited blood panels. A number of antibiotics, and a range of other IV treatments (such as emergency hydration). There’s more, and we’ll be interviewing a supervisor in the near future. Stay tuned!
In them meantime, if you have an urgent care need, you can book them via their web site: DispatchHealth We understand their current hours are 11-7, 7 days a week.
Their web site says their costs are the same as any other urgent care clinic, and they can handle most insurances.
Pfffft. We should have listened to Hillary Emmer and others when they said to vote against a Health Care District - well, *I* listened anyway. Too bad nobody else did. Sure hope it works out, but I'm not super hopeful that it'll happen in my lifetime, and at my age, I'm running out of time to be able to live on the island AND brave the ferries to get to/from medical appointments off-island, especially for diagnostics or treatments. What a waste of our tax dollars. And frankly, I want that $1M+ they paid for the lot next to Kathy's back. They didn't ask us if they could do that! Grrrr.
